Shared Diagrams

If you choose to share your IndeX-Ray Diagram (IXR) using the "Share" button, then the names and values of the data columns, indexes, any queries (IXR State) are stored. This information is encoded into the URL as a URL hash (e.g. https://querydoctor.com/ixr/#URL). The shortened name comes from a randomly generated sequence of characters, and without knowing the character string it is infeasible to access the data. Only Query Doctor administrators can access this data directly. Obfuscated IP addresses and creation time are stored alongside this data, to enable spam detection.

IXR Visualization

In order to visualize a database and its indexes, your browser sends the IXR State to Query Doctor servers only when the state is shared or imported. There, the IXR State is processed and sent back to your web browser, where they're shown. We will never share your IXR State unless you have created a shared diagram from the IXR State.

Application, web and error logs

Query Doctor keeps web logs, which contain semi-anonymised IP addresses and the generated URL for shared diagrams, but no other personally identifying information. If a user accesses a shared diagram, then the URL is exposed in the web log (as https://querydoctor.com/ixr/#URL) and from this the IXR State can be retrieved. As such, if you share an IXR diagram, your IXR State can in principle be retrieved from the web log of Query Doctor.

Cookies

Query Doctor uses small pieces of information stored on your computer: Cookies and Browser Local Storage. Cookies are only used used with external analytics services (e.g. Google Analytics) to gather statistics on Query Doctor usage and for user authentication. Analytics cookies are only used to help the Query Doctor team plan for future updates and hardware upgrades in order to ensure the site remains stable and responsive. Local storage is used to remember the user's settings and user interface configuration, so that it's available when the user visits the Query Doctor site again.
